Yeti 100

June 27, 2025

5th yeti with four hundreds and one hundred kilometers
82nd 100 miler, but who’s counting, well that would be me

Gotta love a local race. So sweet sleeping in your own bed and being home so soon.  And seeing all your friends running, pacing or at the aid stations. Yay!

I came into this with some good training weeks and really wanted to get under 27 hours.  The last two years I ran 27:26 and 27:27.  Rather consistent.  The race start at 2800 or 2900 feet elevation which is not that high but apparently it takes my breath away as I am not used to being up that high.  So I did some hiking and running a few weeks before and it seemed to help. Gotta remember to do that.

This was also my first rainy, misty Yeti.  The cooler temperature really helped as I did not run out of water going back up to the tunnel, 13 miles, no aid.  I did carry too many clothes awkwardly in my little vest, need to remember to wear my bigger vest if the weather is difficult.

I ate a lot and lately that has been helping me to keep my running pace faster in the latter half of the race.  For a few races prior I wasn’t eating enough and would be border line bonky.  (That should be a song, Border Line Bonky, will I finish or DNF)

I got to play leap frog with Karen and Jill.  It amazes me that people can run the same pace for all hundred miles.   Congrats ladies.  I got to help out a rookie who told me his knees were on fire.  He finished and thanked me later. I got see Jess set another PR when she didn’t think she would have it in her.  I got to see Shawn and congratulate us both, 63 year olds on being out there having fun. And I got to see Chad finally finish this 100 miler at Yeti.

Anywho, 40 minutes faster than last year, happy with that.  Kept my pace up for second half instead of being lazy and no blisters or ailments other than being a bit tired and trying to see out of half closed eyes from being tired.  That is a win for me.
